Now Dus (that was James nickname) Ma's (Mary Avery) father was german. He could not talk plain, and her mom was born in England. Don't you remember we had a lot of money that was due her thru her mother, her name was Elsie Lemon, his name was Lewis Bugner (Buckner, Boughner). He was born in Germany.
Pa's ancestors all came from England,3 Avery brothers came over on the mayflower. Dad (Orville) was a descendant of them, so you see he was English, he was born in Syracuse, New york, th 23rd of January,1833 and died the 11th of February 1903. I think he was about 73 (70) years old. You see Ma was Dutch and English. I knew Ma's Uncles, they were Henry and John Lemon, they were farmers that lived over on Lyon's Creek the name of the little place was called Cook's Mill, but afterward it was called Crowland and she was born on Lyon's Creek, it run thru her father's farm. She thought her birthday was in September, but one time she was back visiting her brother Rubeand he told her she was born in March, so that would make her birthday come in the year 1836, she was 20 years old when I was born, and they were married July 27th 1854 and she died January 24th (8th) 1906. I was born July, 25th 1856, Bessie was born when I was 20 years old, making her 59 this August 1st and I was married 60 years March, 1935.

Just random notes….maybe no connection
I am looking for information on two families who appear on the 1860 census
for Westville, Franklin Co., NYS ... Alvin (b 1826) and Julia (b. 1834) Avery,
children listed are Marcia, Sylvel and Orville;
and Silas (b. 1830) and Matilda (b. 1836) Avery, children listed are William,
Alice and Helen. Any information on these families greatly appreciated.
Silas Avery's wife was Matilda Elliott, dau. of Thomas & Sarah (Squires) Elliott of Westville. Silas & Matilda are buried at Coal Hill Cem. in Westville; next to them is her brother John Elliott and wife Eliza Ferris and their family. In addition, Matilda and John also had one other known brother, Albon Elliott, resident of Owls Head, NY but buried in Morningside Cem., Malone.
I'm looking for Silas H. Avery (1840-1927) married to Alice Webb lived on St. Regis Indian Reservation, Malone, NY. Four children Charles W., Bert, Ada, ?. Are these perons related: misspiggie50@hotmail.com
http://genforum.genealogy.com/avery/messages/1895.html
Hi Peggy,
I don't know who your Silas Avery is. There are many Avery families in the area.
My Silas Avery (1829-1901) is from Westville, outside of Malone, husband of
Matilda Elliott.
I think the St.Regis Reservation is not in Malone but Hogansburg, in the Town of
Bombay and is closer to Massena. Have you tried Massena resources? They have a
great library. Newspapers are on microfilm, perhaps an obituary exists??
Good luck,
Brian

JOHN COOKE |
ORIGIN: Unknown
MIGRATION: 1633
FIRST RESIDENCE: Plymouth
OFFICES: "John Cooke Sen[ior]" appears in the Plymouth section of the
1643 Plymouth Colony list of men able to bear arms; a line was later drawn
through his name, indicating either death or removal [
PCR
8:188].
ESTATE: On Plymouth tax list of 27 March 1634 "John Cooke Senior" was
assessed 9s. [PCR 1:28].
On 6 February 1636/7 "three or four acres of land is granted to John Cooke
the elder at the norwest side of Josua Pratt's land, & betwixt him & the brook"
[PCR 1:50].
On 2 August 1653 "John Cooke senior" of Plymouth sold to Thomas Lettice of
Plymouth, carpenter, for Ł3 a "house and garden plot on which the said house
standeth being situate in Plymouth aforesaid in the north street lying and being
next unto the house and garden plot in which the said Thomas Lettice now liveth"
[
PCLR
2:1:69, transcribed in
MD
3:139].
BIRTH: Before 1607 (John Cooke, son of
FRANCIS
COOKE, was
baptized in Leiden early in 1607, and was "Jr." to this man's "Sr.").
DEATH: After 2 August 1653.
MARRIAGE: None recorded.
CHILDREN: None recorded.
COMMENTS: Of all the records under the name John Cooke in the early
decades of Plymouth Colony, the above four are the only ones that can be
assigned with assurance to John Cooke Sr. Many other records are ascribed to
"John Cooke Junior" or "John Cooke the younger," but many are also found without
any distinctive indicator. Many of those without a rank indicator, however,
including the admission to freemanship on 1 January 1633/4 [PCR
1:4, 21], seem very likely to refer to the younger John Cooke, son of
FRANCIS
COOKE.
John Cooke Senior was obviously a man of below average wealth
and social standing. There is no indication that he was related in any way to
FRANCIS
COOKE.
Savage suggests that this John Cooke removed to Rehoboth, and that "perhaps
he removed to Warwick." But John Cooke Sr. of Plymouth must have been older than
John Cooke son of Francis, and must therefore have been born before 1607,
whereas John Cooke of Warwick was probably born about 1620 [
TAG
52:1-10].
